The Alabama Insurance Underwriting Association (AIUA) is Alabama’s coastal wind pool, providing windstorm and hail coverage in Mobile and Baldwin counties where standard insurers exclude wind. Under Code of Alabama Section 27-1-24, every insurer authorized to write fire and extended-coverage insurance in Alabama must be a member of AIUA. AIUA covers wind and hail only — it doesn’t cover flood or storm surge, which still needs a separate NFIP or private flood policy.
