Does Alabama require boilers and pressure vessels to be inspected?

Yes. Alabama’s Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Act (Code of Alabama Title 25, Chapter 12) requires scheduled certificate inspections by an inspector holding an Alabama certificate of competency: power boilers annually, low-pressure heating boilers biennially with an internal inspection every four years, hot water boilers biennially, and pressure vessels subject to corrosion every three years. Operating certificates and installation permits are also required. That’s a legal inspection mandate, separate from and in addition to equipment breakdown insurance, which covers the cost of repair and lost income when equipment actually fails.
