Does Alabama law require manufactured homes to be anchored?
Yes. Code of Alabama Sec. 24-5-32 makes it unlawful to install or occupy a manufactured home unless it is tied down to properly installed ground anchors rated to resist the wind loads set by the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission, and all installers must be AMHC-certified. Mobile and Baldwin counties are designated Wind Zone II, a higher standard than the rest of the state. Carriers frequently require proof of a certified tie-down inspection before binding coverage.
