Is roadside assistance included in my auto policy?
Most standard personal auto insurance policies, including liability-only and basic comprehensive and collision packages, do not automatically include roadside assistance. It is typically offered as an optional endorsement or as part of a premium tier package. Some carriers bundle roadside assistance with their higher-level plans, while others offer it as a stand-alone add-on for a modest additional premium, often just a few dollars per vehicle per month. Membership programs such as motor club plans can also provide similar benefits separately from your auto insurer. If you are unsure whether your current policy includes roadside coverage, the fastest way to find out is to review the coverages listed on your declarations page or call your agent. Having this benefit in place before a breakdown occurs is far more practical than trying to add it roadside.
