How Olive Cover Chooses Your Personal Insurance Carrier

As an independent agency brand, we place your home, auto, and specialty coverage with the carrier that fits your situation, not with one insurer by default. Here is what independent access means and how we choose.

What does an independent agency actually get you?

A captive agent sells one company's products and quotes one company's price. Olive Cover is the consumer brand of Olive Insurance Services, LLC, an independent property and casualty agency -- we hold relationships with multiple personal-lines carriers and compare them for your specific home, vehicles, and risk profile.

The practical difference shows up at two points. First, at quote time: two carriers can price the identical coverage hundreds of dollars apart because they weigh your ZIP code, claims history, or construction type differently. An independent agency runs the comparison; a captive agent has nothing to compare against. Second, at eligibility: some homes, drivers, or situations simply do not fit every carrier's appetite (older roofs, prior claims, a home business, a non-standard vehicle), and a captive agent can only say yes or no, while an independent agency can usually find the carrier that says yes.

Why does one carrier decline what another writes?

Every carrier sets an appetite: the mix of homes, drivers, and risks it wants on its books. Appetite is shaped by the carrier's reinsurance agreements, its claims history in a given area, and its own underwriting rules, and it changes over time as those inputs change. A carrier that happily writes a newer home with a recent roof might decline the same home ten years older, while a different carrier specializes in exactly that older-home risk.

This is also why a declarations page from your current policy is the fastest way to get an accurate comparison -- it tells us the exact coverage, limits, and deductibles a new quote needs to match, rather than guessing at what you already have.

What does a coverage review actually do with that?

A free coverage review starts from your current policy or your situation, not from a blank form. We line up limits, deductibles, and endorsements against what carriers available through us actually offer for your home or vehicles, flag any gap in your existing coverage along the way, and bring back specific options with the reasoning behind each one -- not just a lower number.

Which carriers are on the table depends on where you live. Availability, eligibility rules, and even product names vary by state, so the specific comparison happens on your state's own carrier page, not here.

Not sure which carrier fits you?

Send us your declarations page or describe your situation. We review it free and tell you which carrier is the right fit and exactly why. No obligation.
